A gent in Britain with a load of can-do spirit and a personal fortune has decided that the British Motor Show must go on next year. Scuttled this year after a long decline, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has an eye toward resurrecting the show in 2013, even though some believe it might never return at all.

Jeremy Clarkson has been a staunch critic against, well, almost everything. His weekly editorials at the Times (occasionally peppered with a car review) have given Jezza a mouthpiece to rant and rave against everything from environmental degradation to speed cameras, and he's secured an ardent fan-base while doing so. Top Gear has earned the ire of environmentalists yet again, this time for driving cars over the Makgadikgadi salt plains in Botswana. All three presenters of the British car show drove across the plains while filming a segment, leaving trails that could remain there for decades. Usually, you are only allowed to go over if you're on a quad bike and must still remain in single file.

A big part of the fun in watching a Top Gear episode is yelling at the TV to let the lads know how you feel about their ratings. Cars they love might seem lame to you and cars they loathe may be sitting in your driveway. Interactive television may be improving, but we doubt they actually hear our rants rattling the cable lines. Not that our opinions mean anything to them anyhow, but that need to express ourselves can be overwhelming at times.
